• Do I need to be a genius at Photoshop or Lightroom to make my photos look awesome?

You do not need to be a genius to use these presets! Using presets inside Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is easier than clicking the shutter. With just a click of the mouse (you can even hover over the preset title in Lightroom and it will give you a preview in the Navigation window) you can effortlessly apply creative development settings to one, a few, hundreds or thousands of photos. Instantly.

Using Adone Photoshop Actions is just as easy! When you want to apply an action to a photo, highlight the action, then click play. Thats it! Some actions will take time to calculate the new adjustments and some are easy! All of the actions will be non-desctructive and will either be set up to apply the changes to a new layer. You will have the ultimate decision when you are ready to flatten the layers.

• How long does it take to apply Presetopia Presets?

Because Adobe Photoshop Lightroom works with RAW data (and also with JPGs in the same manner), presets are simply “guidelines” to tell Lightroom how to develop your photos upon export. Because of this unique process, your presets are applied instantly. Lightroom does the conversion data upon export, so all of the computer heavy-work is done in large batches (or small, however many photos your decide to export).

Using “actions” in Photoshop can be an extremely time intensive process, especially if you are not running a top of the line computer. Lightroom operates smoothly, even on slower computers. Using presets can save you many hours on long, labor intensive Photoshop retouching.

• How long does it take to apply Presetopia Actions?

Most Photoshop actions on the market are very “heavy handed”, in that they take a lot of processing power to apply the effect. Presetopia Actions are made to mimic Presetopia Presets both in creativity and speed. 90% of all the actions are very quick and lite, but running a top-of-the-line computer isn’t necessary, although it will definitely help.

• Do I need Photoshop to use Presetopia Presets?

You do NOT need Adobe Photoshop to use Presetopia Presets! In fact, Lightroom Presets are not even used with Photoshop (unless you plan to use them with Photoshops’ Adobe Camera RAW, which is possible!). Adobe Photoshop will continue to remain the standard for photo editing for many reasons. Lightroom was made to work alongside photoshop to speed up the large amounts of photographs to make broad, selective and general develop edits.

If you are like many people that don’t have time to learn how to use a complex program like Photoshop, then using the Presetopia Presets will be like Christmas in July. Presetopia was made with the most basic photography or computer novices in mind. Lightroom is a much more user friendly post production program, but it is also vastly different in it’s purpose and approach. Visit Adobe.com to learn more about Photoshop and Lightroom.

• Do I need Lightroom to use Presetopia Presets?

NO! We have just finished customizing each of our unique Presetopia Presets to be able to use with Adobe Bridge and Adobe Camera RAW. To my knowledge, Presetopia is the only solution that offers this! If you have not migrated over to Adobe Photoshop Lightroom (all you cave dwellers), you will be able to use them with Adobe Camera Raw, and Adobe Bridge. Some of the Presets, namely the “Post Crop Vignette” presets included with Presetopia Presets v1 are not included with the Bridge/ACR update because neither application supports “Post Crop Vignettes”.

NEWS FLASH! With the update of our product line to now include Photoshop Actions, you have a choice! If you do no yet work with Adobe Lightroom, you can now obtain the same results that Presetopia Presets offers with our NEW Presetopia Actions which are now available?

• Why should I purchase the Presetopia Actions as well?

Please visit our product comparison page for more information. In brevity, Presetopia Actions now allow you to achieve the same develop settings that Presetopia Presets offer, but now with Photoshop. Presetopia Actions also includes highly customized Advanced Vignettes, Super Secret Skin Softening, and other tools not available with Presetopia Presets. I can’t live without both!

• Can I use Presetopia Actions with any version of Photoshop?

Thorough testing has been done within Photoshop CS2, CS3, and CS4. You will notice (update available soon) that in your download will include CS2/CS3 .atn file, and there will be a seperate .atn file for CS4. This has to do with a new feature included with CS4 using adjustment layers and Clipping Mask mode. All of the actions function properly within Photoshop CS2 as well, except for two, which calls upon the black and white conversion command which is only in versions CS3 and CS4. All of the Presetopia Actions have been built using commands that, as far as I know, are capabale of being used within Photoshop 7, but we hold no guarantees if they do not function with Photoshop 7 or any version prior.

• Do I need to shoot in RAW to use the Presetopia Presets?

No! One of the magical things about Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is that it handles JPGs in the same manner as RAW. Some of the tools inside the Develop Module were meant specifically for photographers who work in RAW, but they still work pretty well with JPGs. All of the presets have been tested and proved for both RAW and JPG shooters.

• How many presets are included?

At the moment, there are just over 85 presets included in the Presetopia Presets v1. These do not include the "ZERO" presets included in each preset category, which reset the presets back to the original out-of-camera settings. Please go to our Learn section to read more about what kind of presets are included in the Presetopia Presets.

• Can’t I create my own presets?

Of course you can! Anyone can create their own presets, but Presetopia Presets were developed and fine-tuned by a working professional photographer to help speed up the workflow process. Hours, weeks, and months were spent on creating the proper balance between the many different presets so that editing thousands of photos become a breeze. Feel free to create your own presets, but you can rest assured that Presetopia includes many creative develop presets which are on the front line of today’s hottest trends and fashions.

Take the work out of your workflow and add more flow to your creative developing process. We guarantee that Presetopia Presets will greatly reduce the time you spend on developing and processing your photos.

• I accidentally altered a preset, how can I restore it to it’s original quality?

If you accidentally updated or altered one of the fine-tuned Presetopia Presets, you can restore it to its original specifications without too much trouble.

Locate the download file on your hard drive, open the file, and navigate to the folder where your altered preset is located. Copy the “name.lrtemplate” file and overwrite the comparing preset located in your Develop Presets folder for Lightroom. For more information about locating your “Develop Presets” folder, see the first question in the FAQ titled “How do I install my presets”?

• Do I need Lightroom 2 to use Presetopia Presets?

No! Some (about two or three) of the Presetopia Presets include alterations designed specifically for Lightroom 2, but they still function just fine in Lightroom 1.0. Features like negative clarity are the only ones that come to mind.

The majority of our Presetopia Presets were actually created with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom version 1.

• These seem expensive, why should I buy Presetopia Presets or Actions?

Presetopia Presets are not just files; they represent hours and days of aggressive fine-tuning so that the presets apply just the right amount of creativity. I understand that presets are quite simple to make, but you can trust the Presetopia Presets to represent the latest and greatest in photography trends and fashions. I am a working professional photographer, and these presets have real world purposes; not just made up stuff to “fatten” the amount of presets we include in the package. Each preset serves a unique and distinct purpose, especially created for the working professional so you don’t have to worry about the fine tuning, just let the Presetopia Presets do the work for you.

Not every Presetopia Preset is going to look great with every photograph. Fortunately we still have our creative minds to decide what we want to do with each photograph!

• What if I have questions about installing, using the presets, or anything in general? Am I left out to dry??

As I have stated, I am a working professional photographer, not a software engineer or developer. I have a pretty firm understanding on today’s technologies in the imaging industry and also test and use many different software applications on a daily basis. I am also a seasoned graphic designer, so the Adobe Suite is very comfortable to me. Before I thought of offering my presets for commercial sale, I made a commitment to myself that I would not sell them unless I was able to support, assist and guide others in using them. I never want to give a false impression that the Presetopia Presets are going to instantly make you a better photographer. I can guarantee that the Presetopia Presets are made to perform as advertised, which is to increase your digital work flow efficiency and assist your creative mind as a professional photographer. Presetopia Presets just make your life easier :)

• How much faster can I process my weddings, portrait or event photographs using Lightroom and Presetopia Presets?

Over the past year I have adopted the powerful Lightroom work flow. On average, I would spend between 8-12 hours processing and developing my wedding photographs using other RAW converters. Just processing! I would then export them as JPG to further enhance and touch-up inside Photoshop using my own actions, and other’s actions that I had purchased. This would take an additional 2-3 days of additional post processing, and I soon got tired of it. I even dreaded spending so many hours on my post-production work, but I wasn’t going to let my quality slide.

I started using Lightroom within the first few months it was released and have loved it so far. Once I was accustomed to using Lightroom, and customizing my presets, my total time investment for my wedding post-production dramatically reduced. Those 3-4 days I would spend have now been reduced to 5-7 hours! Yes, 5-7 hours! Now I have more time to spend on designing albums, preparing marketing pieces, planning new personal projects and relaxing with my family. No more 3-4 day time slots to schedule to work on my wedding photos. Now I can just pick a morning after the wedding, get to work using my Presetopia Presets and be done in about 6 hours!
